Getting started

Pick a material from the bar at the bottom and draw in the jar. That is the whole control scheme. Sand falls, water finds its level, algae make oxygen when there is light, and animals spend it. There is no goal, no score and no timer.

The tutorial lives on the Guide tab, top right, and can be reopened any time.

Common questions

Everything died. What did I do wrong?

Usually nothing — you can do everything right and still lose the jar. The common causes are too many animals for the amount of algae, algae with too little light to keep up, or a jar packed so tightly that the gases have nowhere to buffer. Watch the oxygen chart rather than the fish: it turns down well before anything visibly goes wrong.

Why is there no temperature?

Because the simulation does not model temperature. Printing a number we do not actually compute would look more scientific and mean less.

Where did my jar go after I updated?

Saves live in this app's own storage on your device. They survive updates, but they do not survive deleting the app, and they do not move between devices — the app has no server and no account.

Can I get my data out?

There is no data of yours anywhere except your device. See the privacy policy.

Will the same jar play out the same way twice?

No, and that is deliberate. The simulation is not seeded, so identical starting conditions diverge. Two jars built the same way are two different experiments.

Known limitations

• On tablets in split view, a very short window can push the control panel below the edge of the screen. Rotating or widening the window brings it back.
• There is no cloud sync and no export. Everything is local.
