EcoJar collects anonymous usage statistics and nothing else. There is no account, no advertising and no advertising identifier. The simulation runs entirely on your device, and your jars never leave it.
This policy covers the EcoJar mobile app on iOS and Android, and this website. It does not cover any other app.
Information we collect
To learn which parts of the game people actually use, the app sends a small number of anonymous usage events to a statistics server we run ourselves (a self-hosted copy of the open-source Plausible Analytics). That is the only network request the app itself makes.
What an event contains:
- What happened, from a fixed list of about ten: the app was opened, the tutorial was finished or skipped, the expansion pack page was opened, a purchase was started, completed, cancelled or failed, purchases were restored, a share card was shared.
- The platform (iOS or Android), the app version and the language the app is shown in.
- A rough range for how long ago the app was installed (same day, next day, 2–6 days, 7–29 days, 30 days or more). The install date itself stays on your device and is never sent.
- For a few events, one more fixed value, such as which button led to the pack page, or a store error code.
- The country the event came from. The server looks it up from the connection's IP address when the event arrives; nothing finer than the country is kept.
What an event never contains: your name, email, account, device identifier, advertising identifier (IDFA / GAID), precise location, contacts, photos, your jars or anything you typed. The app does not set or send cookies and does not create any ID of its own.
Your IP address and the app's user-agent string are used by the server, at the moment the event arrives, to count unique visitors for that day; they are combined with a random value that is deleted every 24 hours and then discarded, and are never stored (how Plausible counts visitors). So we cannot tell whether two events on different days came from the same person, and we cannot link any event to you.
The statistics are not used for advertising, not sold and not shared with anyone.
What the app stores, and where
Your jars, your oxygen history and your settings are written to storage that belongs to this app alone, on your own device. They are never uploaded anywhere. Deleting the app deletes them.
What we do not do
- No account, no sign-in; no email address is ever asked for.
- No third-party analytics, advertising or crash-reporting SDK is bundled in the app.
- No advertising, no advertising identifier (IDFA / GAID), no tracking across apps or sites.
- No data is sold or shared with anyone.
In-app purchases
The optional expansion pack is sold through Apple's App Store or Google Play. Payment happens entirely inside their own purchase screen, under their privacy policies; we never see your card, your Apple ID or your Google account. The app only learns from the store which pack you own, so it can unlock it.
Children
EcoJar collects no personal information from anybody, of any age. It contains no advertising, no chat and no user-to-user communication of any kind.
Links out of the app
The About screen has a small number of links, including this page. Opening one hands you over to your own browser. Anything that happens after that is between you and the site you land on, and this policy no longer applies.
This website
This site is static. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads nothing from a third-party server — every font, image and stylesheet is served from this domain. Our hosting provider may keep ordinary server logs, which we do not read, join to anything, or use to identify anyone.
Your rights
Rights such as access, correction, deletion and portability exist so that you can reach data somebody else is holding about you. The usage statistics carry no identifier, so there is nothing in them we could find, show or delete as yours. Your jars exist only on your device, which you already control completely: delete a jar inside the app, or delete the app. If you would like this confirmed in writing, write to us and we will confirm it.
If this ever changes
Anonymous usage statistics, as described above, were added in October 2026; this page was updated before that version shipped. If a future version collects anything beyond what is listed here, this page will say so before that version ships, and the change will be named in the app's release notes. We will not quietly widen it.
