EcoJar now speaks Korean, French, Portuguese, Italian and Swedish
EcoJar now runs in eleven languages. The five new ones are Korean, French, Brazilian Portuguese, Italian and Swedish. Every screen is translated: the jar, the tools, the species guide, the save panel and the Pack page. The app follows your phone's language, and you can override it on the About page.
We picked these five by looking at what people actually type into the App Store in each country, not by a list of big markets. Korean players search for 물멍, the habit of staring at water to unwind, which is close to what a sealed jar is for. In Sweden people simply search for akvarium. Some countries we looked at, like the Netherlands and Norway, mostly search in English already, so they keep the English app for now.
Numbers, thousands separators and durations now follow the language too, so a French jar reads 1 250 and a German one 1.250. French and Portuguese also treat zero as singular, which the old plural rule got wrong.
On Android, phones set to Arabic or Hebrew used to mirror the whole layout while the text stayed in English, which put oxygen on the wrong side of the gas gauge. The layout now stays left-to-right until the app has a proper right-to-left translation.
The browser version at ecojar.io/play is now the same app you get from the store, with the guide and the Pack page. Its save slots were never actually being written before; they now are, and they stay in your browser.
EcoJar is free on the App Store and Google Play, or you can play it in your browser.
